• 1978년, 조동협 교수님 (Weill Cornell Medical College)과 이진옥 교수님 (Rockefeller University) 외 10여분께서 뉴욕 한인 생명과학자 모임을 조직하시고 이끌어 오셨지만 안타깝게도 1990년 초반에 활동이 중지되었습니다.

    이후 Columbia University, Rockefeller University등에서 개별적으로 Korean Journal Club을 운영해오던 중, 뉴욕지역 생명과학자들의 학술 및 친분 교류를 위해, 2008년 첫 학교별 대표자 모임을 시작으로 하여 뉴욕 생명과학자 협회 (New York Korean Biologists (NYKB))가 조직되었습니다.

    2009년 NYKB의 첫 공식행사인 NYKB Annual Conference를 시작으로, 이후 매년 봄 NYKB Annual Conference를 개최하고 있으며, 각 학교 생명과학자분들의 과학기술 교류와, Career development, Networking 도모를 위해 활발히 세미나와 모임을 열어가고 있습니다.
